Course Description

Physics 234B is an on-line calculus-based physics course. (PHY 232B plus PHY 234B equals PHY 184B.) Topics include: electricity and magnetism, electromagnetic waves and special relativity.

Prerequisites

(PHY 232 or PHY 232B) and MTH 133.

Helproom Hours

Strosacker Learning Center, room 1248 BPS.
Tuesday: 1:00 - 4:00 PM, 6:00 - 9:00 PM,
Wednesday: 1:00 - 4:00 PM, 6:00 - 9:00 PM,
Thursday: 9:00 AM - noon, 1:00 - 4:00 PM 6:00 - 9:00 PM.

Exam Information

Exam #1: June 14, Wednesday, 6-7 PM, Room 1410 BPS,
Exam #2: July 05, Wednesday, 6-7 PM, Room 1410 BPS,
Exam #3: July 26, Wednesday, 6-7 PM, Room 1410 BPS.
(There is no Final Exam.)

On the exams a one-sided 8.5 by 11 handwritten help sheet is allowed.

Bring a calculator and two sharp #2 (HB) pencils to each exam.

Grading Information

Percent weights:
Homework: 25%,
Midterm Exams: 3 x 25% = 75%.
(There is no Final Exam.)

Grade table:
4.0 >= 92%,
3.5 >= 83%,
3.0 >= 74%,
2.5 >= 65%,
2.0 >= 56%,
1.5 >= 47%,
1.0 >= 38%,
0.0 < 38%.
