Course Description

PHY 234B: on-line calculus-based physics course. (The combination of PHY 232B plus PHY 234B is equivalent to PHY 184B.) Topics include: electricity and magnetism, electromagnetic waves and special relativity.

Prerequisites

(PHY 232 or PHY 232B) and MTH 133.

Exam #1: 10/02/07, 5:00-6:00 pm, Room 1420 BPS
Exam #2: 10/30/07, 5:00-6:00 pm, Room E105 Fee Hall *** Note Room Change ***
Exam #3: 12/27/07, 5:00-6:00 pm, Room 132 Hubbard Hall *** Note Room Change ***
PHY 234B does not have a final exam.

Bring a calculator and two sharp #2 (HB) pencils to each exam. You are allowed to bring one 3"x5" index card with whatever information you deem relevant.

Grading Information

Homework: 25%, Midterm Exams: 3 x 25% = 75%.
PHY234B does not have a Final Exam.

Grade table for class:
4.0 >= 92%
3.5 >= 83%
3.0 >= 74%
2.5 >= 65%
2.0 >= 56%
1.5 >= 47%
1.0 >= 38%
0.0 < 38%.

Depending on student performance, the grade requirements may be lowered, but they will never be raised.
