Incised Leaves

 

Pinnatisect: Pinnately divided but not as far as the midrib:
to the left: Prickly Lettuce (Lactuca serriola), middle picture: Norway Maple (Acer platanoides), to the right : Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba)



Palmately lobed: The more or less deep clefts are all pointing towards the leaf base:
to the left: Larkspur; middle picture: Monkshood (Aconitum carmichaelii)
Lobed:The leaf blade is divided into curved or rounded segments: to the right: Tulip Tree (Liriodendron tulipifera)



Pinnately lobed: The segments are arranged in pairs and the clefts extend (nearly) to the midrib:
to the left: Pheasant's Eye (Adonis), middle picture: Nigritella
Comb-like pinnate: The leaflets are arranged like the teeth of a comb: to the right: Yarrow (Achillea atrata)
