Nuclear Envelope in Cross-Section (Detail)


The rim of the nuclear pores is formed by the inner and the outer nuclear membrane that merge into each other without a transition. The pores are filled by the so-called nuclear pore complex (consisting of proteins and nucleic acids that look fibrillary in the picture).
