The amount of DNA in anther cells of Lilium longiflorum was determined with the Feulgen reaction. Radioactively labelled phosphate was only incorporated during DNA replication (doubling of the chromatids, S-phase). (J. H. TAYLOR, R. D. McMASTER, 1954).
