A Haustorium of Puccinia graminis Penetrates a Wheat Host Cell |
Please notice, that the plasmalemma of the host cell (at the right of the picture) encloses the fungus hyphae. A lot of electron-dense material is deposited around the haustorium. Cut chloroplasts with starch inclusions can be recognized in the host cell. The fungus hyphen displays one of the nuclei and several mitochondria. (D. E. HARDER, 1978)
