OLEACEAE

Olea europaea: A plantation on Crete, centuries old. The trees in the second picture developed from the side shoots of a tree formerly at the centre of the group.


Inflorescence - nets are spread below the trees to harvest the olives. Without further treatment are the freshly harvested olives unpalatable, they are too bitter.
