Style guidelines
S1. Appropriate scales
These data have been acquired from a variety of maps. Consequently, scales vary, though nominally their quality can be adequately represented at 1:1 million world wide.
S2. Recommended legend
There are no firm guidelines as to how these data may be represented on maps. WCMC traditionally uses red: 255 green: 0 blue: 0 as the fill colour for all protected areas data, be they points or polygons. Given that parks are used principally to overlay other topographic or thematic features, it is advisable that you do not 'solid fill' the polygons.
S3. Accreditation
WCMC requests that both WCMC and IPIECA are credited on the map for supplying these data. The position and format of this text is made at the discretion of the map maker with the understanding that the text is legible. WCMC has included the WCMC and IPIECA logos for use if desired.
S4. Sources
Data sources should accompany mapped data, either printed directly on the map, or available in a separate document delivered with the map. In the latter case, WCMC would appreciate the inclusion of WCMC's contact address for users wanting more information on the data sources presented.
