Photosytem I

Photosytem I and Green Sulphur bacteria

A Chime tutorial which explores the strucure of photosystem I.
Note that this tutorial uses the currently available structure from the Brookhaven Protein Data Bank, 1pps.pdb, with some additional features added by ARC, based on more recent literature. A structure at higher resolution (2pps.pdb, see below) is due for release May 1998, and this tutorial will be updated when the new set of coordinates becomes available.

  1. A beautiful account of the structure of photosytem I at 4 Å Resolution by X-ray crystallography from the Berlin group. Coordinates will be available as 2pps.pdb.

  2. Structure of photosystem I from electron microscopy and digital image processing of negatively stained and frozen-hydrated 2-D crystals.
