I would recommend that you are comfortable with your lecture notes, lecture handouts, and additional topics covered by homework assignment # 3. You may find the textbook particularly useful in preparing your thoughts for the mini essays below.
Mini essay topics for the exam. You are welcome to think about these topics and prepare ahead of time, but you will not be allowed to bring any notes or prewritten essays into the exam. You will be asked to write on TWO of these on the exam (the other mini essay topic will be covered by multiple choice questions).
Here are a number of multiple choice questions from a previous year's tests. Although the emphasis may be different from this year's, it should give you a flavor of the multiple choice questions I may ask. The correct answer is listed on the bottom of the next page. As you have experienced, my general approach to multiple-choice questions is to have them cover the lecture material, but in a way that makes you think.
1. The ciliated gill of the molluscs is unique and hence given the specialized name of:
2. Class Polyplacophora is named in chitons for the presence of:
3. Which of the following classes of molluscs will contain the most rapidly moving members?
4. In the annelids, each internal compartment of the body cavity (coelom) is lined with material derived from what germ layer?
5. Characteristics typical of annelids include all of the following except:
6. Which of the following statements about arthropods is false?
7. Chelicerate arthopods possess which of the following?
8. An insect has the most pairs of which of the following structures?
