MACIMDAD CAN BE FOUND AT: http://www.mag.com/ ----------------THE FOLLOWING INFO IS OBSOLETE---------------------------- Thank you for your continued interest in Imdad (Interactive Molecular Design & Display), our desktop 3D visualization and macromolecular modeling program for the PowerMac, Mac and PC. Attached are instructions to download the MacImdad/Power MacImdad demos. Imdad has quickly earned a reputation as one of the most powerful and easy-to-use visualization packages for the desktop. MacImdad was originally developed by Dr. Michael Levitt of Stanford University and his team at Molecular Applications Group. Imdad allows you to display, rotate, animate and zoom your molecules in real-time simulation -- making it extremely useful not only as a research tool, but also as an easy and impactful way to create presentation graphics. Instructors can use Imdad to create customized macros for interactive teaching. Imdad comes with more than 3500 protein drawings from the Brookhaven Protein Data Bank on CD-ROM. Imdad provides tools to build organic molecules, peptides, and nucleotides of your own configurations. You may also import structures in pdb coordinate or free format coordinate format. The molecules can be analyzed in detail through the use of various geometry-extracting commands, drawing styles, color selections, animations, and more, all controlled with a click of the mouse. Download images as a PICT files for editing in Canvas or PhotoShop. Imdad highlights include: * quick and easy 3D molecular displays, animations * importing pdb coordinates * building your own molecules * superimposing molecules and changing dihedral angles * saving, editing or printing PICT and PostScript files in PhotoShop * slide or video presentations, publications * interactive classroom tutorial applications Power MacImdad runs on any Apple PowerMac series platform. MacImdad v5.0 runs on any MacII or Quadra with floating point. PCImdad runs on any 486 or better with floating point. Required RAM is >5MBs. Network versions, multiunit packages and site licenses are available. Our single unit academic price is normally $499. With volume discounts, your price will be nominal. For additional information about Power MacImdad, MacImdad, or PCImdad, or to discuss an order, please contact me. -----------------------------*************-------------------------------------- The following are instructions for accessing the MacImdad and Power MacImdad demos via ftp from our server at Stanford. Please note that we do change the password periodically. If you have any questions or problems, please contact me. 1) Open a Unix shell, login as yourself 2) Type "ftp cb-iris.stanford.edu" 3) At the ftp login prompt: Type "look" 4) At the password prompt: Type "mag4321" 5) At the "ftp>" prompt: Type "cd macimdad" 6) Use the "ls" command to list contents of the macimdad directory 7) Type "ascii" 8) Type "get macimdad.hqx" 9) Type "get demo_info.hqx" 10) There is also a README file in the directory. Retrieve in the same way. 11) When you are finished, type "bye" The MacImdad demo and demo_info are binhexed documents. Using Fetch or a similar program to download them onto your desktop should automatically convert them to the applications MacImdad v5 Demo Installer, and DEMO_INFO. If, after downloading these documents onto your Macintosh, they are still named macimdad.hqx and demo_info.hqx, then your transfer program does not interpret and convert BinHex. You will then need to de-binhex the documents yourself or to download using another application which does interpret BinHex (we recommend Fetch). There is no limit to the number of copies that can be made of this demo. There is a 1/2 hour use limit. To continue, user must restart after this period. 800-229-7382 TEL 415-473-3036 DIR 415-473-1795 FAX
