POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS

RNA Virus Replication and Gene Expression

Postdoctoral positions are available to study the mechanisms of RNA-dependent RNA replication, mRNA synthesis, encapsidation, and related processes in positive-strand RNA viruses.

Studies will focus on the functions and interactions of viral proteins, RNAs and host factors in generalizable model systems. Unique experimental avenues are available through the ability of bromoviruses and nodaviruses to replicate RNA, express genes, and assemble virions in yeast, allowing use of yeast genetic and cell biology approaches to identify and study relevant host genes and to greatly facilitate other experiments (see, e.g., J. Virol. 73:2622-32, 10061-9, & 10303-9; Science 283:802-4; PNAS 96:13650-5). Bromoviruses and nodaviruses are well-studied viruses with excellent genetic and biochemical resources for in vivo and in vitro studies.

Significant opportunities are available in several areas of molecular genetics, biochemistry, and cell biology. Successful candidates will join a well-equipped group of interactive researchers with diverse backgrounds and expertise. Please send letter of interest, curriculum vitae and names/addresses (including Tel/FAX/email) of three references to:
