The root and shoot systems of this virtual okra leaf cotton plant are synchronised to maintain a realistic ratio of root:shoot biomass. The growth rules for roots are affected by soil structure and have not been worked out in detail. This simulation was based on several simplifying assumptions, such as uniform soil.
