Dinoflagellates

Dinoflagellates are the most common sources of bioluminescence at the surface of the ocean. This section describes the life history and ecology of dinoflagellates, explains how and why they produce bioluminescence, how you can obtain and grow your own luminescent dinoflagellates, and suggests some simple demonstrations of dinoflagellate bioluminescence.
