Web Manual - Sporophyte Culture
A low rate of fertilization is required for Ceratopteris and most other ferns. We achieve good growth and fertile frond production with PETERS (R) POINSETTIA FINISHER 15-20-25. Feed rates depend on pot volume and are 100 ppm nitrogen per week for small cups, i.e. , ca. 22 ml per week of a 1/2 tsp per gallon solution and 200 PPM nitrogen per week for 68 inch pots, i.e. ca. 120 ml per week of a 2 tsp per gallon solution. Different feed rates will give different levels of fertile versus vegetative frond production. |
